Lesson plan Process

My team and I start our backward planning by listing all of our learning targets. We use a big poster for this and break apart the standards into their parts.

Once we understand the learning targets, we begin to discuss assessments. finding or creating aligned questions for formal assessments.

Next, we design the learning activities and informal checks for understanding. When designing lessons with my team, we try to engage students with some exploration, provide vocabulary notes that will be helpful to understand new concepts, and engage students with relevant activities and practice. Sometimes students like to go straight to the practice and other times students like to play games.
